One man's trash..........

One man

Is another man's treasure. The appeal of this photo, to me, is obvious. The contrast of colour against the snow.
After converting the raw file I decided to enhance that contrast. I simply turned the snow to B&W then upped the orange saturation very slightly. To me, subtelty is key.

Howdy folks, this is an old photo, we have very little snow on the ground just now so I'm searching through the archives for this shot, it's one of my favs. Anybody have any thoughts.

I'm going away for the weekend so I may mot have any shots up here for a few days.

There we go, just for commenter Kathy. This is how the image should have looked before it was posted the first time. Kathy, you are now the first ever winner of Chuck's nest exclusive "Keen Eye Award"

baking

gumdrops

It's Christmas baking time, my job? To slice the gumdrops for the gumdrop cake. Why did I get that job? Because I'm diabetic so my wife knows I won't be eating the candy.

I likw this shot. Can you see where it has been photoshoped?

another view

Here's another shot of those snowsqualls that I showed you the other day. Which do you think is better?

Update, Kathy is right , of course, that small branch on the right side should have been dealt with.
The change has been made. See two posts up.

snowsquall

snowsquall

Yesterday I was bemoaning the fact that this time of year it's a little tougher to find good lighting and good subjects at the same time. Every now and again though, you find something special. Yesterday I took a quick trip to the cottage and I got there just in time to see this snowsquall over the lake. It's always a neat thing sitting there in the sunshine watching the storms go passed. Eventually though, The storm spread enough to start falling on me. The cottage is great this time of year. Quiet enough to listen to the lake freeze.

grass

This time of year is not my favourite as far as photography is concerned. Often we face day after day of flat lighting contitions, the cold sometimes makes it harder to work, if it's not the equipment balking at the temps. it might be my shutter finger siezing up. Undauted, you continue to search for something to snap. In this case a tuft of grass peaking through the snow. This was taken at the lakeshore, and, of course, I knelt down for the angle and my knees broke through the wee bit of ice that is forming on the lake. Instant cold! Brrr!!!!

As always folks, critiques are welcomed.
